So you’ve started a blog, your photography is on point, you’ve got a growing base of readers and you’re ready to take it to the next level. You’re ready to start working with brands, pitching your ideas and potentially making some money from the hard work you put into your site. Well, the good news is that I’m hosting a Blogging Workshop to help you level up, by sharing the insights I’ve gained from my years of experience building my blog up to what it is today.
I started Tails Of A Mermaid in 2010 because I loved writing and I felt like there was more to internet storytelling than the Facebook status bar. This blog was born on an old laptop in my mom’s bed, after I Googled “how to start a blog” and registered a WordPress.com domain. Since then it has grown and become a place where I catalogue my thoughts, interests, travels and many, many meals. It’s a tool that has helped me to experience things I never even dreamed about, meet some of the most inspiring people I know and share some of my most personal experiences, only to receive the most amazing feedback from a wonderful community experiencing just the same things.
I started this blog for love, and I still run it for love.
Six years down the line I have learned how to work with brands, how not to work with brands, how to ask for money when it’s deserved, when to pay my own way and how to run a commercial blog while still keeping it personal. It hasn’t always been easy and I haven’t always made the right choices. I’ve made mistakes, embarrassed myself, received loadsa hate on social media and learned some hard lessons. I’m not the final word on blogging, and I’m not an “expert”. I’m just a girl from Kempton Park who ended up becoming a blogger. And I’m ready to help other people level up their own blogs with what I’ve learned.
The #TOAMBlogShop will cover things like:
- how take a press release and turn it into content that you and your audience will benefit from
- how not to become a professional blogger
- how to pitch pro-active ideas to brands you want to work with
- how to act like a pro, even if you’re not a full-time blogger
- plus I’ll be sharing some of my best-kept industry secrets, which have helped me to make many dreams come true
- the event is going to be very small, so there will be time for you to ask questions
People often ask me if I think there’s space for any more bloggers on the internet and my answer is OF COURSE THERE IS! You’ve got a different way of telling your stories than I do, and I want to read them, see them, feel connected to them. That’s why we’ll also be talking about how to get people to notice your blog, without having to resort to spam tactics.
