100 Years of Sedgwick’s

December 23, 2016   /   bynatalie  / Categories :  Food & Wine

If you’re South African, I’m sure you have at least one memory that involves Sedgwick’s Old Brown. For me, they all involve good times; braaiing, late nights around a fire, camping in a beautiful space.

As a food obsessed human, I mostly plan my experiences around eating and drinking. So for example, my camping trips revolve around potjiekos recipes, plans for a delicious breakfasts cooked over the fire and of course,  moonlit smores.

All you need to create one of the most delicious sweet treats you’ll ever have the pleasure of enjoying is a fire, a packet of marshmallows, a packet of Marie Biscuits and a bar of milk chocolate. And of course, a glass (or tin mug) of Sedgwick’s.

Find a suitable stick, thread a couple of marshmallows onto it and roast them over the fire until they’re slightly browned and nice and gooey. Squish them between a couple of Marie Biscuits and a piece of chocolate and enjoy with a glass of the classic campfire drink, Sedgwick’s.

This year, Sedgwick’s are celebrating their 100th birthday. In honour of the event, they’re giving away a gift pack containing a bottle of the good stuff and a very special, limited edition book, containing all kinds of recipes and stories from South African Sedgwick’s fans.

I’m giving away one of these special gift sets. To win, all you have to do is comment below and let me know where you would enjoy this bottle of South African memory liquid.

*Competition closes 31 December 2016. Open to South Africa only. Only one entry per person.

A bottle of Sedgewick’s would go down amazingly on a camping trip in the Cederberg next year. Day of hiking in the sun, chilling round a camp fire in the evening with this would be awesome!

Divine post showcasing the delicious Sedgwick’s Old Brown. The gift, would of course be enjoyed with my close group friends, over an evening of great conversation, laughs and the appreciation of this good Sedgwick’s Old Brown. Fingers cross, it comes my way.

A bottle of Sedgewicks Old Brown, or “OBies” as we used to call it is a perfect winter warmer. It would go down so well on a chilly winter evening on Blauuwberg beach. The perfect companion for a Table Mountain sunset.
