Have you visited a shopping centre in the middle of the day in the middle of the week recently? I seem to remember them being complete ghost towns in my childhood? But I had a Cavendish Square gift voucher burning a hole in my pocket recently and let me tell you, people are shopping at all.times.of.every.day! Of course, the fact that I have flexible hours was just one perfect excuse to head to the Southern Suburbs for a spot of shopping.
Before panic-shopping for my AfricaBurn wardrobe at the conveniently-timed YDE sale, I browsed around and almost melted my credit card in the process. One of my favourite stores at Cavendish is actually their Exclusive Books, where I have to hold back from buying the collector’s edition sets of Harry Potter and Roald Dahl every time I walk in.
Cavendish invited me to check out their extensive range of stores, and I wasted no time, of course. In my search for the perfectly mad yet functional desert outfit, I popped into The Space (great selection of local designers and African prints), Forever New (such a pretty selection but too delicate for the Burn), Sunglass Hut (I mean, I could spend a fortune there) and Nicci Boutique (pretty good options, actually).
In the end, I found some completely mad yet surprisingly wearable items at YDE.
If you need #ThePerfectExcuse to head to Cavendish Square, I’ve got just the thing! I’m giving away a R1500 Cavendish Square gift voucher.
