One of the things I love most about living in Cape Town is the very easy access we have to very good wine. Add to that the summer wine festival schedule and Cape Town is pretty much the place where dreams live.
I’ve been to most of the big Western Cape wine festivals and I think each of them has something unique and great to offer. However, this past weekend was my first time at Constantia Fresh, and now I have a new favourite wine festival.
The festival is small and intimate and the location (Buitenverwachting Wine Farm) is beautiful. There was live music and a selection of delicious food from some of the top restaurants (and food heros) in the region, paired with excellent wines from Constantia and surrounds. The best part is that everything is included in the ticket price. Wine tastings and food and everything else – and you don’t have to worry about buying new “crowns” or “tickets” if you run out (which you always do because: food and wine is delicious). The other best part is that the festival runs from 3pm to 7pm. Perfect day drinking hours.
I took loads and loads of pictures and video, but unfortunately my camera was stolen from my kitchen table in the early hours of Sunday morning, before I had a chance to download Saturday’s stuff, so all I have are a couple of pictures I downloaded onto my phone throughout the day. I think they still give a nice idea of what makes this festival great.
I really hope that the guy who stole my camera is doing something good with the hundreds of pictures I took.
