Have you ever gone on a picnic, where you’ve packed a bunch of delicious snacks, carefully carted around real glass wine glasses and laid it all out on a beautiful blanket… only to find that you’d forgotten a bottle opener? Of course you have, and so have I. Many times. That’s why I think that Krone’s new helix cork is the absolute most essential picnic item you’re ever likely to find.
Their Chardonnay Pinot Noir (yummo!) is bottled with this new helix cork, which is shaped like a Champagne cork, and is easy to remove without the help of a corkscrew. I’m not one to advocate ever not finishing a bottle of wine once it’s open, but if there’s like, a fire, or an earthquake, and you need to get out of your picnic spot fast, the helix cork is easy to pop back in and it seals the bottle, ensuring you won’t end up with a backseat soaked in wine.
Krone (who are famous for their elegant MCC wines) sent us an insane hamper of delicious picnic goodies this weekend, including two bottles of their incredibly drinkable still wine. We decided to run with their #unexpectedtwist theme, and set up our picnic not at a park or at the foot of a mountain, but on our huge hotel bed at the Franschhoek Boutique Hotel. With winter coming up, we’re looking for fun ideas to do indoors and let me tell you, a wine-fuelled picnic in a luxurious hotel room with a fire crackling in the corner ticks all the boxes on my list of “fun activity” criteria.
So now you know, don’t go on a picnic without a bottle of Krone MCC Chardonnay Pinot Noir.

FABULOUSLY UNEXPECTED TWIST!
Lovely post and a great twist to what would be the ideal Sunday for me and partner 🙂 and the wine doesn’t hurt either 😉
