The Traveller Pendant

When I turned 30 last year, I realised just how sentimental I really am. From having all my people around me to making sure I had a special memento to remind me of the past and encourage me in the future, it really brought out my sentimental side. Which is how I ended up really discovering my love for unique, sentimental pieces of jewellery.

Sentimental Jewellery for Travellers

Jewellery is something that I wear every single day, no matter my outfit or mood. It’s such a special way to celebrate, remember and symbolise something special. It’s the most sentimental accessory there is. When people find jewellery from designers like haruni, they are finding items that might be able to last them a lifetime. So last year I was looking for a pendant I could wear daily, on all my travels – something to remind me of home, but symbolise adventure at the same time. I wanted something unique and custom made, using quality materials that would last.

My friend Misha introduced me to the stunning work of Exclusivity by Design, the Johannesburg-based jewellery studio that made her precious pendant engraved with the name of her firstborn, Carter.

The Traveller Gold Pendant

I reached out to Heather at Exclusivity by Design, and together we designed The Traveller, a 9ct gold compass pendant that symbolises travel, adventure and journeys new and old, while the tiny gold diamond down South represents the absolute joy of home. It’s hand made right here in South Africa and makes the perfect gift for the traveller in your life, or something special for yourself.

It’s so perfect to wear by itself or layer with a few other special pieces like I have done here. I like to wear it with some other beautiful pendants that I have. The diamond in his traveller pendant can be placed anywhere, so it can shine bright for where your home or maybe your heart lies. I really like how the diamond looks in this necklace. It shines and shimmers beautifully in the sun. I’ve even started looking at pink diamond price as I’m thinking about adding some more shine to my jewellery collection. It’s only an idea at the minute though!

It sits right below the collarbone, but you can have it made
with a longer or shorter chain if you prefer.

I have literally not taken The Traveller pendant off since I got it.
