I’m really excited to be able to share a project that I’ve been waiting to tell you all about!
A couple of weeks ago, Checkers invited me on a trip into the winelands to explore the Checkers Wine Route with them.
Did you know that the Checkers Wine Route brings you wines from over 80 South African wine estates at cellar door prices? We travelled to wine farms and estates in Durbanville, Stellenbosch, Darling and Paarl to try a few wines from a couple of the country’s favourite producers and to see why Checkers decided to bring them to you.
This winter, the Checkers Wine Route is bringing these wines right to your door in their Winter Wines promotion. Check out their awesome offers and order a couple of cases to get you through winter here.
I decided to pair up with the brand to shoot these videos because I am absolutely mad for wine. But, like a lot of young people in South Africa, I found it daunting at first, so I stuck to the same old bottles and never ventured too far away from sweet Rose. Over the past five years, I have been learning more about how wine is made, how to identify flavour profiles and how to appreciate the magic that is a great bottle of wine.
I want to share that with more young people who are interested in wine but not sure where to start. So watch these videos to learn a little about how each farm and each grape combines to create a great bottle of wine at an incredibly reasonable price.
I had so much fun visiting 6 wine farms and making 6 little videos to help you decide which wines you would like to order a case of this winter. Subscribe to the Checkers Winter Wine YouTube channel to see them all as they are released.
If you’re someone who is keen on wine, but not quite sure how to tell the difference between a Chenin Blanc and a Cabernet Sauvignon, my advice to you is this; drink more wine. That’s the best way to teach your palate and brain about the flavour profiles and smells in wine. Plus it’s a great excuse to buy a few cases of wine to enjoy with your friends.

PS. I’ll be taking over the Checkers Instagram account tomorrow, the 27th of May, so follow them to see pics from behind the scenes of these videos!
